mini 2005 03 30 8850Screenshot 2En furetant sur le site presse d’Atari, je suis tombé sur un communiqué de presse daté d’il y a deux semaines et annonçant (sans le nommer) Enemy in Sight. Au milieu de pas mal de bullshit (« oh Machin, comme je suis content de travailler avec toi ! » « Et moi donc ! Un vrai honneur ! J’en rêvais depuis tout petit ! Je peux te faire l’amour ? »), on découvre quelques détails intéressants sur le jeu : on nous promet plus de 25 véhicules, des environnements réalistes, un terrain déformable et des bâtiments destructicles.

Le dernier à avoir fait ce genre de promesses, c’était Söldner, si je ne m’abuse. Et le résultat final en était assez loin. Là, c’est le développeur d’Hidden & Dangerous, célèbre pour la qualité de son gameplay et le nombre hallucinant de ses bugs. Mouais. La perspective d’avoir un théâtre d’opérations un peu moins statique que d’habitude est certes plaisante, mais là j’ai quand même un doute.[–SUITE–]Le communiqué de presse :

ATARI AND ILLUSION SOFTWORKS TO RELEASE NEXT GENERATION PC TITLE

– Advanced Online Multiplayer Near Future War Epic to Launch on PC –

BERLIN, GERMANY – 16 March 2005 – Atari today announced a deal to publish the epic war title currently under development for personal computer by the team at Illusion Softworks, the highly talented studio responsible for recent award-winning hits Mafia, Vietcong, and the Hidden and Dangerous series.

Centred around a great war between superpowers in the very near future, the game focuses on first person action set within vast battle landscapes. Massive online multiplayer capabilities enhance the sheer scale and dramatic impact of the fire fights and battles within the sprawling, realistic environments. Every building can be destroyed, the landscape is fully deformable, and players can command any of over 25 vehicles in the game, all based on their real-life counterparts and painstakingly designed to scale.

The game, which will be named shortly, is due for European release within the Infogrames 05/06 fiscal year.
