WarCry propose une interview du PDG de Wings Simulation, qui est par ailleurs également le Lead designer du FPS développé par sa société : Söldner: Secret Wars.
Après avoir évoqué quelques sujets futiles, l’interview entre dans le vif du sujet et parle de la balance entre réalisme et fun :
We offer basic realism but prefer « fun » whenever realism stood in the way. Mainly this effected little details. Foe example some launchers can only be fired when kneeling. Although that’s realistic it doesn’t really add to gameplay, it actually causes more problems than fun.
We put realism into the weapons as far as gameplay allows. So weapons do lose accuracy depending on your pose, whether you are running and of course depending on weapon type. We didn’t put in weapon failures or jams as random game elements in firefights simply are frustrating, and would definitely detract from the fun factor.
