Sam Lantinga, le programmeur en chef chez Loki Software a informé TribalWar sur la progression du port Linux pour Tribes2.[–SUITE–]

The Tribes 2 port is going very well, and we are slated to have a Gold Master very soon. Of course we don’t want to announce anything until we have it in our hands, but things are looking really good.

As for differences between the Linux and Win32 versions, there will be
essentially none. The advantage of cooperative development between Linux and Windows is that the benefits for one platform often translate to the other platform. For example, the textfields in both the Linux and Windows versions have emacs key bindings. The Windows version sports the common Loki key binding of Ctrl-g to bind/unbind the mouse, etc.

There is only one area where the Linux version is significantly different from the Windows version, and that is voice over IP. Due to licensing issues, we were unable to get the voice compression codec that the Windows version uses, so we aren’t shipping with voice over IP support
