Editor (M.A.P.
[–SUITE–]Pariah Multi-Player Details Revealed
World premier developer, Digital Extremes, in conjunction with Hip Interactive Europe, revealed more details on the multiplayer features planned for their new FPS, Pariah, which will be published and distributed in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Topping the list of features is the Pariah MAP (Make and Play) Editor. Inspired by the editing tools provided in all the Unreal Tournament PC games, the objective of the Pariah M.A.P. Editor is to provide an extremely easy way for players to make their own unique multiplayer maps and then share them with friends.
Made popular by the PC ‘mod’ community online, Digital Extremes designed a way for Xbox owners to share the experience of creating and modifying multiplayer levels. Now with the Pariah MAP Editor, Xbox players will have the opportunity to create their own levels and share their maps through system link, memory cards or Xbox Live. PC players will get the best of both worlds, the Pariah MAP Editor as well as the full suite of Unreal Ed tools.
The underlying principle for the Pariah MAP Editor tool set is: simple, but powerful. The Editor will provide the player with a great deal of flexibility while allowing for ease of use and a low enough learning curve that anyone can make their own unique multiplayer map for Pariah.
The full feature set for the Editor is still being finalized however, some of the primary features are that gamers can expect to have the ability to manipulate include terrain, texture changes, object placement, lighting, environment settings and player start points.
Along with the MAP Editor, Pariah’s vehicles and customizable weapons come together to create the ultimate multiplayer experience online and off. Some of the multiplayer gametypes include traditional favourites such as Deathmatch and Capture The Flag, as well as new gametypes like Siege and Frontline Assault.
« While the game is centralized around an intricate storyline and an immersive single-player experience, it would be against our nature not to include a robust multiplayer component in the game, » said James Schmalz, founder and creative director of Digital Extremes. « Our goal with Pariah is to deliver the full gaming package: inventive, immersive and above all, fun.
