XSreality, le site des sportifs éléctroniques dans le move, interviewe Mr.Fatal1ty, l’ancien numéro 1 de Quake 3 qui lui aussi change de cap : direction Counter-Strike. Extraits :

MrE: Fat, your move to CS and 3D has left the gaming community asking a lot of big questions. Do you think Quake and Counterstrike are similar enough for you to become the best at the latter?
JW: « Well, like any game, you have to practice a lot at it and figure out where the sweet spots are to sit and camp. The games are definitely similar as they are both FPS games, and you still have to use hand eye coordination and
mental toughness to be very clutch. I’ve been very successful transfering to CS as I’ve went and played with 3D in two tournaments in Boston and Louisville and won. I have been playing CS for almost 2 years now off and on, but I haven’t really been serious with it until this year. »MrE: How long have you been playing CS seriously? How long do you think it takes to become supreme at the game?
[…]If its a new game, I think I have an advantage, because I have such a quick learning curve and I’m able to just understand games faster. »MrE: How do you see gaming moving in the near future? Will the greatest gamers be game-specific, or will they have to cross over like yourself to survive?
JW: « You have to keep moving, when you hit the age 18-24, you have to think, can I play a game that is dead and still make a living off of it… The answer is no, you can’t play a game that is dead when your 18-24 unless your doing it for fun. Which is why most of us are doing this in the first place.
I didn’t get into games for the money, I got into it because it was fun, and when you build a competitive arena around the game I love to play, it makes me think wow, how exciting is this to play a game you love and make money at it.
So in reality, you have to keep moving if you want to do this for a profession, and thats definitely what I plan on doing, as well as making this community bigger so more gamers can have just as much fun as I have. »
