Roswell, GA, 31st October 2006 – « Fall Free Booster Pack » released for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

Tripwire Interactive are pleased to announce the release of their « Fall Free Booster Pack » for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 over Steam. The latest Free Booster Pack for Tripwire Interactive’s RO:Ostfront contains a number of new features included a new map and two new vehicles. Tripwire previously hinted that the new map would be a remake of from the original mod and we can now reveal that map is Danzig. This was justifiably a huge favorite in the mod days, providing intense, close-quarters infantry combat in the battered city of Danzig at the end of the war. Not just a straight port, Danzig has been rebuilt from the ground up with improved gameplay and greatly enhanced visuals. Take a look at the pictures and trailers on the website: this will be our most graphically detailed map to date!

The first new vehicle is the Panzer IV H – a vehicle much requested by the community. This gives the Germans the most effective version of their medium tank for the war. Upgunned and uparmored, this Panzer IV is better equipped to slug it out with the T-34s it will meet on the battlefield. It also comes equipped with schürzen – additional side armor plates to deflect panzerfaust and anti-tank rifle rounds.

The second new vehicle is the Universal Carrier, provided by the British to the Soviets to support their war effort. This was the most numerous armored transport vehicle used by the Soviets during the war, with over 2,600 seeing combat. It is lightly armored, armed with a DT light machine gun and carries a total of 6 people.

Apart from the usual long list of new features, enhancements and bug fixes, there are a couple of key additions to draw to people’s attention. The first is the inclusion of « ROTV », allowing games to be viewed and shown to large numbers of spectators, without adding vast loads to servers. Ideal for « televising » clan matches and tournaments! The other is a change to the underlying game engine that we have made which allows a much longer viewing distance. Previously, the engine limited mappers to view distances of just over 1,000 metres. Now mappers can set that distance out to 2000, 3000 or even 4000 metres – ideal for those long-range tank engagements! Last but not least, this patch officially adds full and robust support for the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard’s LCD Screen.

The full change-log is available on the Red Orchestra game website at www.redorchestragame.com, along with the trailers and screenshots.
