Suite à la récente annonce de supprimer Q3 dans la CPL et qui a sucité beaucoup de réactions, la président Angel Munoz a répondu à quelques questions sur le sujet :
eSA: Quake 3 is widely known to be the « platform » that the CPL was built on to become the premier eSports organization. How do you justify switching to CS on these three levels: professionally, personally, and as a gamer?
Angel Munoz: Do we really need to justify our decisions? Justification is done mostly when you do something wrong. While I fail to see the connection, I will answer your question this way: The CPL is a company interested in the expansion of competitive computer gaming worldwide, not in the promotion of a particular game. For many years the biggest criticism we had received was that CPL should change their name to QPL or Quake Professional League, and the biggest complaint we received from most of the top pro-gamers was how boring it was for them to play Quake III. We now have made a decision that addresses larger audiences, moves the sport in a different direction and expands the reach of our league.
