Matthew Karch – Will Rock was born out of a desire to carry on the tradition set by Doom, and continued so brilliantly by Croteam this year with Serious Sam. In short, we wanted to create a game that was all about action. Most of the current FPS titles are heavy on story and a little light on action. We wanted to create a game with loads of opponents where you would have no time to rest. The best analogy would be one of those Schwarzenegger or Rambo movies where the guy takes on 50 enemies at once – when you are done, you are left a little breathless with an accelerated heart-rate. Although Will Rock pays homage to its predecessors, we have taken an approach that differentiates us. In our game, the environment comes to life – you never know if the statue you have just passed or the mosaic on the wall is going to come out and get you. We have implemented a technology that allows for morphing environments, so every object in every environment is capable of coming to life.
