Warren Spector revient longuement pour RPGvault sur l’histoire et les caractéristiques principales de Thief: Deadly Shadows, qui sort la semaine prochaine aux USA. Il rappelle notamment que l’on pourra dans ce nouvel épisode se balader librement dans la City.
The big difference between The City of old and The City of Deadly Shadows is that you get to explore a lot more freely now, outside the constraints imposed by specific, story-driven missions. There’s a lot more we can do with freeform thievery (and I hope we get to do some of that in future games), but Deadly Shadows provides a nice, and nicely different, experience of being a thief than players have experienced to date.
I mean, now, you have to decide how much risk to take to acquire the tools of your trade – you aren’t just given equipment and weapons at the beginning of every mission. There’s a persistent game economy in Deadly Shadows. You really do have to decide how many homes to burgle, how many pockets to pick, how likely you are to be spotted by the City Guard… That’s a radical new way of experiencing the world of Thief.
