Alors ça, c’est pas commun : deux mois à peine avant la sortie annoncée du jeu, Midway annonce un nouveau titre : Area 51 sur PC. Même si des rumeurs d’un portage sur PC couraient depuis quelques mois, rien n’était officiel. Ce FPS de Midway Austin (ex-Inevitable Entertainment) vous met dans la peau d’un soldat (David « je suis mou » Duchovny) guidé par un alien (Marylin « je passe à la télé » Manson) en pleine base secrète Area 51. Super pouvoirs et petits gris sont à prévoir.
Area 51 marquera donc également le retour sur PC de John « je suis maudit » Romero, le game designer de DOOM et Quake parti faire des jeux pour PDA après l’échec de Daikatana. Il a réalisé une map et supervisé le multi d’Area 51. Cette version PC devrait donc sortir courant avril, de même que les versions Xbox et PlayStation 2.[–SUITE–]Le communiqué de presse :

Powers Boothe, who currently appears in the HBO mini-series Deadwood, provides the voice of Major Bridges, while shock rocker Marilyn Manson delivers an unforgettable performance as Edgar, the gray alien.
AREA 51 boasts a rich online experience of up to 16 players for the PC, PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox(R) video game system. Game Description:
The U.S. Army has received a distress signal from Area 51 where a viral outbreak has just shut down the research facility and the automated quarantine procedures have locked all scientific and military personnel inside. A small Special Forces unit including Specialist Ethan Cole of the HAZMAT (hazardous materials) Division is sent to investigate.
As Cole, players delve into the massive levels within the confines of Area 51, only to discover a deadly mutagenic side effect of the virus that controls the minds of those infected, as well as an ancient alien colony buried beneath the facility.
