GameSpy: Would you have allowed LB & B Associates to use the RS engine if it was going to be used to train people to kill terrorists as opposed to training soldiers in decision-making and preparation?

Upton: This is kind of an odd question, because in my conversations with our military contacts they’ve been pretty unanimous about first-person shooters being poor training for actual weapons use.

GameSpy: Do you think there’s too much realism in RS? Do you think it could be used by an organized terrorist group to train soldiers to deal with anti-terrorist groups?

Upton: Every technique in the game is readily available from non-classified sources. We’re probably about as useful to real terrorists as playing paintball.
