Also, when Half-Life got the 1.1.0.0 patch that recreated the netcode (which was intended to be for TF2), Valve instantly noticed that while the netcode had been improved, it would by no means be suitable for TF2. This stands as one of the few problems keeping TF2 from being released. Unfortunately if the game takes too long to come out, by the time it does it won’t stand a chance against the other games available (does anyone remember Daikatana?). However, if they rush the game and produce a shitty product, these last years of waiting will have been for nothing.
All this adds up to a gaming experience that can’t be matched by today’s games. I’m sure by the time this comes out Counter-Strike will still be the most played online game, but maybe TF2 will change all that. So with a bit of luck, and an ass-load of skill, we can hope to have Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms on our hard drives soon. Then the insanity of full-scale war can begin on servers everywhere!
